Potential NCAA Championship Matchups

Whoever it ends up being, we didn’t see it coming.

With Saturday’s Final Four looming just days away, our thoughts turn to the possibilities of championship match ups. Will Duke stifle West Virginia?
Will Butler continue 2010 unbeaten? Which two teams make for the most exciting and meaningful championship match?

In the first semi-final matchup, the Spartans from Michigan State will be taking on the only team to still be unbeaten in 2010, the Butler Bulldogs.
Butler is a team that has surprised many, but also shown a focus and determination unparalleled thus far. After bouncing top seeds Syracuse 63-59 in
the Sweet 16, and then sportsbook odds favorite Kansas State 63-56 in the Elite Eight, Butler has
made short work of the Horizon conference, and will certainly not be lacking in any confidence heading into Saturday’s game with Michigan State.

Assuming Butler gets by the Spartans, who will they meet in the finals? Final Four odds show Duke a favorite to win against West
Virginia, and a championship between the Bulldogs and the Blue Devils a northbet.com favorite, would be an enthralling matchup. Both teams would enter the finals brimming with confidence, and Duke has the better shot of beating Butler over West Virginia. Will the battle-tested Blue Devils prove too much for 2010′s NCAA elite?

A much more surprising finals would see Michigan State square off against West Virginia. If coach Tom Izzo can design a strategy to defeat Butler, they
might be unstoppable against the Mountaineers.
